photographers’ retreat

The Today is Different Retreat is three days of luxurious indulgence and intensive learning for portrait and wedding photographers.

Held at beautiful Cottage Point (near Sydney), the retreat is designed to:

  • take your photography business to the next level
  • develop your photographic skills and style
  • create the confidence for personal and business success
  • maintain a balance between your business, your photography and your life

You will have an opportunity to dedicate time to work on what your business needs the most. The format of the retreat is a small-group discussion environment so you can expect to actively participate and share, brainstorm, plan, listen, observe and create.

who:

Aimed at anyone who is already a professional (full or part-time) photographer, is familiar with the settings of their SLR camera and wanting to expand their creativity and their business. To maximise learning and participation attendees will be limited to 10-15 people per retreat. Make sure you don’t miss out!

where:

Cowan Waters, Cottage Point (35 minutes drive from Sydney CBD). Cottage Point is one of Sydney’s smallest, yet most scenic, and unspoilt suburbs. Located at the junction of Cowan Creek and Coal & Candle Creek, Cottage Point is listed as a heritage conservation area supporting a wide variety of native flora and fauna.

day 1: your business

  • Investigate marketing and sales techniques that reflect your brand and create an emotional connection with your customers
  • Learn why customer relationships are the key to your marketing plans
  • Discover how to attract and retain customers using customer relationship plans
  • Start work on developing your own plan to build your customer base and grow your business
  • Obtain advice from guest facilitators who are experts in their fields of branding, sales, marketing and customer experience

day 2: your photography

  • Spend time identifying and developing your unique signature style
  • Obtain essential skills and techniques for photographing both children and adults
  • Learn from extra special guest photographers who are considered experts in their photography niche
  • Participate in guided portfolio building and practical photographic sessions with all models, hair and makeup artists provided
  • Discover tips and tricks to develop your creativity using available light, location lighting and studio lighting

day 3: your life

  • Learn practical tools and tips for making change happen with our special guest facilitators
  • Establish a clear sense of direction and the confidence that you will succeed
  • Identify your values and strengths so that you know how to utilise these in your work and your personal life
  • Stress management, work life balance and learn tips to overcome procrastination
  • There will also some time to chill out: kayak on Cowan Creek, go for a photo walk, have a massage or share ideas and chat to fellow participants

Finding the balance and managing these expenses can be a challenge for any small business. To help you out we can offer very flexible and unique payment terms. Payment terms can be determined on a case-by-case basis but below are a few typical options.

If you pay in full, by the due date for early bird registrations (60 or more days prior to the first day of the retreat), you will receive a 10% discount…sign me up

terms and conditions for the retreat

Submission of a registration indicates the participant agrees to the terms and conditions set out and will be charged the appropriate fee. 

Today is Different will contact you within 24 hours to confirm and finalise your booking. Detailed instructions, including any preparation work required,  will be sent out two weeks prior to the retreat. 

If the minimum participant numbers are not met, Today is Different reserves the right to change the date or cancel the retreat. In the unlikely event of this happening, or retreat cancellation through other unforeseen circumstances (e.g. illness), participants will be informed as soon as possible and offered an alternative retreat date or full refund. 

The fee for a place in the retreat includes 3 days spent at Cowan Waters and 3 night’s accommodation at nearby Checkers Resort, all meals, course materials, business tools and templates and activities. If you chose not to stay at Checkers the fee remains the same.

Cancellation, Transfer and Failure to Attend: Once a booking has been accepted, any cancellation within 30 days of the retreat, leaving an unfilled place (including non-attendance), will incur the full retreat charge.
