Google Places marketing for photographers
Welcome to Marketing Monday. Today’s video is about setting up and maximising your Google Places listing to get found on Google in search, on maps and Google+.
Google Places: What is it?
Would you like to see your photography business on page 1 of Google?
There’s a few ways to do it:
#1 pay for it – that’s Google AdWords – and appear at the top and down the right hand side
#2 optimise your website to rank highly in the organic search results
#3 Google Places.
Let’s take a look at the video and the search for a Manly Photographer and have a look at page 1 of Google.
As you can see, Google Places listings can often be seen higher on the pages than the organic search results.
This is what your potential customer will see on a good Google Places listing: photos, a map, directions, address, any relevant information and reviews.
How do I get a listing?
Your business may already show up here as a listing and you will need to click the “Edit” button to verify ownership and make sure that the details are accurate and complete.
If there is no current listing click the “Add a Listing” button and follow the simple steps to create your listing.
A good Google Places listing can potentially get you on to page 1 of Google. To make sure you have the best chance of your business being seen keep these simple rules in mind:
- have a complete profile
- Google loves content (and so will your potential clients) – use text, photos and video
- keep it accurate and up to date – keep it fresh with new content regularly
- use the keywords your potential clients will be using to search for you
- reviews are a great way for Google to see that you are popular and relevant and will help get you that great position on page 1
Google Places listings are fast, easy and free. So what are you waiting for? Go get yours today!
